She wants to "liberate" her young fans, who feel like they are freaks like her. Liberate and free them from what? Christianity? If she felt like a freak growing up in Catholic school, it only leads one to believe that she rejects her upbringing and is trying to get others to follow her.
People have fallen over her, but it does make sense why she uses all this religious and occult symbolism in her videos, as well as risqué lyrics. Some say that she is a devout Catholic and there is no way she would be anti-religious, satanic, Illuminati influenced, etc. However what I think happened is that Ms. Germanotta rebelled against her upbringing (which happens quite frequently to children in Christian schools) and uses music as a way to show her disdain for Christianity and its values.
